One of the things I love most about photography is that you could place ten photographers in a room with the same subject and you'd end up with completely different art from each person. Between lighting, editing, and posing, there's just so much room to be different and creative. The possibilities feel endless.
Over the years, I've cultivated my editing style to convey a very warm, moody, and romantic vibe. If you know me personally, you know that this just fits. My editing style is like my signature. With that being said, I also recognize that locations, lighting conditions, time of year, wardrobe choices, and even the energy of a session can all influence what feels most authentic and beautiful in the final images.
Take the images below for example. This is the exact same photo, just edited in different styles.
The warm, moody edit on the left is my signature style. It leans more heavily into emotion and atmosphere. The tones are deeper, the shadows are embraced, and the overall color palette feels soft and romantic. This style is less about documenting exactly what the scene looked like and more about how it felt to be there.
The brighter, natural edit tells the story in a more literal way. Colors are lighter and truer to life, details in the landscape are more visible, and the image feels open, airy, and fresh. This style highlights clarity and environment, allowing you to step back into the scene just as it was.
Neither edit changes the love, the connection, or the authenticity of the moment. What changes is the interpretation. Both are honest. Both are intentional. And now, you get to choose which one feels most like you.
