How it began

What started as a heartfelt handmade gift last Christmas quickly turned into one of my most-viewed projects ever, with the photos reaching over 120,000 views on TikTok and messages still coming in from people asking how they can purchase one.

What is it?

It's a crocheted blanket that, when folded, looks like a bouquet of flowers. It has a dark green base with leafy accents and flowers crocheted in three coordinating pinks. I made this as a gift for my sister and she had most of the color palette selected ahead of time to match her space, but I'd really love to experiment with different base colors, flower colors, and flower types. I think roses could look really gorgeous. I'd also like to play with the idea of different base colors as well.

How can I get one of my own?

As much as I’d love to accept regular orders for these at a modest price point, each blanket takes around 60–70 hours to create and uses over $100 in yarn alone. To price them fairly, a custom commission would begin at around $1,000 (that’s roughly what it costs for me to pay myself close to minimum wage for the time involved). If you’re still interested in discussing a custom piece of your own, I’d love to hear from you. You can reach out through my Commissions form to start the conversation.

DIY

If you know how to crochet, you can absolutely make a blanket of your own that looks just like this! The pattern I used was purchased from Etsy and the yarn I used was Lion Brand Re-Spun Thick & Quick. Purchase the pattern here.

Yarn can be found here. I used colors; Spruce, Dark Cherry, Dusty Pale Pink, and Mauve.

Note: I see that some of the colors appear to have changed names. I purchased the yarn for this blanket from JoAnn Fabrics before they closed, so I'm wondering if this is the reason. If I had to substitute these colors now, I'd probably select Spruce, Dark Cherry, Wisteria, and Desert Sand.

Gathering Interest

With enough interest, I may host either an online or in-person workshop where we can work on a blanket together from start to finish. This would be great for people who already know the crochet basics, but could use a little extra support navigating the pattern and a place to ask questions and bounce ideas. If this speaks to you, please enter your information into this Google Form so I can reach out when this is announced.
